 Qualifications:

  • An associate degree (AA) in early childhood education or child development or the equivalent; or
  • A valid Center-Based Preschool CDA credential; or
  • Must be willing to obtain an associate degree or CDA within 3 years of employment
  • Ability to pass a background check

 Preferred:

  • 2 Years or more experience in Early Childhood.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Training and knowledge of Connect for Learning

Responsibilities:

Must have the ability to understand preschool children and find teaching them a pleasure. Energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork required. All candidates should have a warm and friendly presence, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the program philosophy and curriculum.

  • Understand and support the Mission, Vision and Curricular Philosophy of the District and Early Childhood program
  • Support Lead Teacher in developing a learning environment suitable for preschool children.
  • Support the Lead Teacher in the creation and implementation of developmentally appropriate lessons that meet the guidelines set forth by the ECC Director in accordance with GSRP regulations.
  • Support a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, inquiry etc.) to facilitate the education of children.
  • Encourage children to interact with each other and help children learn how to resolve occasional conflicts independently.
  • Maintain child observations to assist Lead Teacher in lesson planning and tracking children’s progress.
  • Help the Lead Teacher design and implement the daily schedule and classroom management
  • Maintain the age-appropriate child to adult ratio as required
  • Collaborate with Lead Teacher, and colleagues for professional development, curriculum alignment and program planning.
  • Assist in the identification of students who may need additional support developmentally, socially, and academically and communicate observations with the Lead Teacher
  • Work to develop meaningful relationships with all students and their families.
  • Attend all staff meetings, training sessions, set up & clean up days, and required school events.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly classroom space that always meets the developmental needs of all students.
  • Implement program policies, Potterville School District Policies, and State Licensing guidelines. 
  • Maintain child records and information with confidentiality.
  • Ensure the safety of all children through constant supervision.
